Waste Solutions

We offer reliable residential waste solutions. Our curbside trash collection activities operate Monday through Friday, with the exception of holiday weeks. (Please see the
holiday schedule for further details.) Deffenbaugh Industries also provides special services, including the collection, by appointment, of large items for residential services users. As regulations differ from state to state, please refer to the guidelines for your state. In some areas where trash collection is limited, stickers may be available for extra bags.

We provide curbside residential recycling within the Kansas City metropolitan area collecting a wide range of recyclable materials. Since its creation in 1989, Deffenbaugh Recycling Company, LLC (DRC, an affiliate of Deffenbaugh Industries, Inc.) has become one of the largest recyclers in the Midwest. To better serve its expanding client base, DRC constructed and operates the largest materials recovery facility of its kind. That facility allows DRC to collect, process, and market a wide range of commercially-generated fiber and paper products.

In turn, our customers see reductions in their overall disposal costs and are able to divert significant tons of material from area landfills. The materials recovery facility also is a key component in the residential recycling programs Deffenbaugh provides in most municipalities across the metropolitan area.

Residential Curbside Recycling History

Deffenbaugh began providing curbside recycling services in the latter part of 1989 in the city of Lenexa, Kansas. Since that time, curbside programs have expanded into more than 20 cities in the Kansas City metropolitan area. Nearly all cities in Johnson County, Kansas, have made a comprehensive community-wide curbside recycling program available to those wishing to participate. There continues to be a high level of interest in recycling in our area.

Processing and Marketing of Recyclable Materials

All recyclable materials collected will be delivered to the Deffenbaugh Recycling Company, L.L.C. (DRC) located at Industrial, Commercial and Residential Recycling 2404 S. 88th Street, Kansas City, KS 66111 for processing. Materials delivered to the DRC/MRF will be sorted, both automatically and by hand, and then baled in order to be made ready for shipment to buyers around the world.
